E & F blocks: Continued reviewing for the chapter 7 test on FRIDAY, focusing on graphing of systems of linear inequalities. Homework: systems of inequalities practice worksheet NOTE: ANSWER KEY FOR CHAPTER 7 REVIEW PACKET is available for download below...
E & F blocks: Practiced solving linear system word problems (by writing a "number of things" equation and a "money/point value" equation) in preparation for a quiz TOMORROW. Investigated "special case" linear systems - systems with either NO SOLUTION or INFINITELY MANY SOLUTIONS, based upon the solving process ending up in true or false statement...
Homework: page 429, #9-23 E & F blocks - Started working on linear system word problem project, as mentioned last week. Students will be responsible for writing a word problem involving a system of linear equations (similar to those in the recent homework packet), including the creative writing exercise of developing the back story that accompanies the word problem. See the project handout for details.
Homework: write the two equations THAT YOU WILL BE USING IN THE PROJECT, and work out the solution to the system. Finished linear systems word problem packet, then paired off to work on writing our own word problems, following the packet problems as a guideline. Each problem must revolve around two "things", each with its own price (or point value), a total money/point amount, and a total number of "things".
Homework: continue with problems started in class, and have FOUR word problems (two or three sentences is all you need) written for class on Monday. Continued working through linear systems word problem packet, discussing the setup of the two equations that is common to ALL of the problems in the packet: a "total number of things" equation and a "money/point value" equation.
Homework: linear systems word problem packet #9-16 (E block dropped today)
******************** F block: took chapter 7.3 quiz (solving linear systems by combination), then started working through a linear systems word problems packet. Make sure to DEFINE YOUR VARIABLES and answer in a COMPLETE SENTENCE. Homework: linear systems word problem packet #1-8 E block: took chapter 7.3 quiz (solving linear systems by combination), then started working through a linear systems word problems packet. Make sure to DEFINE YOUR VARIABLES and answer in a COMPLETE SENTENCE.
Homework: linear systems word problem packet #1-8. ******************** (F block dropped today) E & F blocks: Continued solving systems using combination in preparation for a quiz on chapter 7.3 TOMORROW. Briefly explored some real-life applications of linear systems, and reviewed when using each method of solving systems (graphing, substitution, combination) would be appropriate.
Homework: page 421, #13-39 odds (skip 27 & 35) Still more linear systems practice using combination/elimination.
F block QUIZ on this topic is scheduled for MONDAY. (E block quiz on combination/elimination will be TUESDAY.) |
