D & G blocks: Reviewed reflections and coordinate plane rotations, and practiced rotations in amounts other than multiples of 90 degrees (and therefore not involving a coordinate plane). Measure the distance between any point and the center of rotation, create the appropriate angle, and map the image point the SAME DISTANCE FROM THE CENTER OF ROTATION. Repeat this process for all vertices and connect the dots.
Homework: rotations worksheet D & G blocks: continued discussing and practicing reflections of figures in a coordinate plane, and introduced rotations as the next transformation topic of study.

******************** G block: Continued to explore translation transformations, including the net effect of a composition of multiple translations expressed as a single translation (find the sum of all the horizontal and vertical movements to write the new translation rule). D block: Continued to explore translation transformations, including the net effect of a composition of multiple translations expressed as a single translation (find the sum of all the horizontal and vertical movements to write the new translation rule).
******************** G block: took chapter 8 test D & G blocks: introduced chapter 9 - Transformations, briefly mentioning the 4 topics we'll study: slides, reflections, rotations and shrinking/enlarging geometric figures. Chapter 9.1 - Translations is where we started looking in-depth, including relevant terminology & notation, how to determine a translation rule, and how to apply a translation rule to a figure.
Homework: page 550, #13-18, 21, 28, 29, 31, 36 D block: Took chapter 8 test. No homework assigned.
******************** (G block dropped today) D & G blocks: Returned and reviewed law of cosines and law of sines quiz, and distributed chapter 8 review packet to be worked on in class and for homework. Check below for the answer key.
D & G blocks: Finished law of sines and law of cosines (and understanding which one is the right approach to a problem) and took a quiz. Chapter 8 test is scheduled for Monday.
D & G blocks: Continued to review law of cosines and law of sines, discussing how to recognize which equation to use to solve a given problem. There will be a quiz on chapters 8.5 (law of sines) and 8.6 (law of cosines) TOMORROW.
